Anya Taylor-Joy is fast becoming a household name after starring in the hit series "The Queen’s Gambit". Her performance as Chess prodigy Beth Harmon has led to promotion of the classic game with sales of boards and online playing increasing since the show’s success on Netflix.
Anya was discovered at the age of 16 walking outside a Harrods Department Store when she was spotted by the founder of Storm Model Management and launched her modeling career.
She was regularly picked on and bullied in school so she had qualms leaving to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. After her audition to play a younger version of Angelina Jolie’s character in "Maleficent" was rejected, she almost gave up but was soon offered a role in ‘The Witch’ and things started to pick up from there, eventually earning her a BAFTA rising star nomination.
She holds American, British & Argentine citizenship and considers Spanish her first language.
